Dog-Friendly Places to Visit Around Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire is packed with fantastic places to explore with your dog, whether you enjoy countryside walks, coastal adventures, woodland trails, or dog-friendly cafés. As dog owners ourselves, we’re always on the lookout for new places to visit that allow our four-legged companions to enjoy the day just as much as we do.
Here are a few of our favourite dog-friendly spots around Lincolnshire.
1. Lincolnshire Coast
From Skegness to Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire’s coastline offers miles of scenic walks. Many beaches welcome dogs all year round or have designated dog-friendly areas, making them ideal for a run, a paddle, and plenty of sniffing opportunities.
We do parts of this regularly.
2. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve
Located just south of Skegness, Gibraltar Point is a dog friendly place with a beautiful nature reserve with walking trails, dunes, salt marshes, and stunning views. It’s a fantastic location for dogs that enjoy exploring new environments while owners can appreciate the wildlife and peaceful surroundings.
3. Hartsholme Country Park
Situated near Lincoln, Hartsholme Country Park offers lakeside walks, woodland trails, and open spaces perfect for exercising your dog. It’s a popular destination for local dog owners and provides plenty of opportunities for training around distractions.
4. Whisby Nature Park
Another Lincoln favourite, Whisby Nature Park combines beautiful scenery with a variety of walking routes suitable for all abilities. The mixture of woodland, lakes, and open spaces keeps walks interesting for both dogs and their owners.
We have never done this one, have you?
5. The Lincolnshire Wolds
Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Lincolnshire Wolds offer endless walking opportunities. Rolling hills, quiet villages, and picturesque countryside make this one of the best places in the county for a day out with your dog.
We have been to many places around the Wolds when I was training for the Yorkshire 3 peaks and loved every minute of the training (not so much the actual three peaks though!)
6. Tattershall Castle Grounds
While access rules vary within historic sites, the surrounding grounds and local walking routes around Tattershall provide a lovely setting for a dog-friendly day out.
Never been to the castle grounds but we have done Tattershall.
Why Exploring New Places Benefits Your Dog
Taking your dog to new environments isn’t just enjoyable—it can also support their training and development. New sights, sounds, smells, and experiences help build confidence, improve focus, and provide valuable mental stimulation.
Whether you’re working on recall, lead walking, impulse control or simply building a stronger bond with your dog, exploring different locations can be a fantastic addition to your training routine.
