Lets talk about training burnout. I mean this from a professional trainer and a pet dog owner training your own dog. It all comes down to planning. There’s that age old saying ‘failing to plan, is planning to fail’ and I can not tell you how true it is!
My head has ben all over the place recently with so many different things. I have been mentally juggling so much. This weekend I am making it a priority to sit down with my notepad and pen, write my list and then make a plan for each item on there. I need to avoid burnout, but burnout for me means that my own dogs don’t get enough of my attention as i would like and I can let that happen
I was on a roll with my own 12 books in 12 month challenge I had set myself until mid April, this is when i clearly started my uphill battle with burnout and couldn’t focus enough. I have 2 weeks to complete 2 books, which is 100% not going to happen. So I now need to figure out a plan of action for that too.
Dog training should be fun, but when we start to hit burnout, it turns into a chore for us as well as our dogs. When this happens, step back, take a breath, re-evaluate and start again.
Enjoy your dog xx
